The Best Drugstore Makeup for a Teacher’s Budget

I have a confession to make…..I love makeup. I may or may not fall asleep to beauty tutorials on YouTube every night. I love to feel glam and fresh when I’m going out. When I’m home and watching Netflix I look like a cast member from The Walking Dead, but when I do venture out or head to work I like to look good. #balance

But first….

It all starts with skincare and the right makeup brushes. Make sure you are cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating your face. The right brushes make all the difference. Morphe has GREAT brushes for a teacher’s budget. So does Real Techniques, which you can find at drugstores, ULTA, Target and Wal-Mart. I’m including a video from Jaclyn Hill, a beauty guru on YouTube and her recommendations for great brushes.

I have purchased my fair share of makeup. Some finds have been incredible, while others a total flop. I wrote this post to save you time and more importantly money. After much trial and error, here are my favorite drugstore finds for makeup.

1.) Mascara

I LOVE THIS MASCARA. It’s amazing and CHEAP. The brand Essence is sold at ULTA. This mascara is only $5.00……GUYS…..$5.00. Go buy one….go buy 5 of them. It doesn’t smudge and it makes my baby straight lashes look awake and long.

2.) Eyeshadows

For the drugstore Wet n Wild  and NYX eyeshadows are the only way to go. They carry so many little and large palettes and most of them have great pigment and aren’t patchy. The two below are some of my favorites. The Wet n Wild quad is $2.99. The larger NYX palette is $14.99 but I got the palette when ULTA had a 20% coupon.

3.) Eyebrow Pencil

Ya’ll….I wasn’t living until I started filling in my brows. I look back at photos and cringe. Having full eyebrows makes all the difference and frames your face/eyes. This NYX pencil glides on easily and the spoolie at the end helps disperse product. This eyebrow pencil will cost you $9.99.

4.) Foundation

I have really sensitive skin that becomes irritated easily so I don’t switch up my foundation. I use Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer which is not drugstore. This foundation will make you look FLAWLESS.

I have seen several YouTubers recommend the two foundations below and swear by them. The Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Foundation is $5.99 and the Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation is $9.99.

5.) Concealer

I swear by this Maybelline Fit Me concealer. It works like a charm at covering mini mountains on your face and for darkness under your eyes. It will run you $7.00

6.) Face Powder

If you don’t want your foundation and concealer sliding around your face you have to set it with a powder. This airspun translucent setting powder from Coty is lovely and only $5.97. SET IT AND FORGET IT.

7.) Setting Spray

I’m all about going the extra degree so when I’m all done with my makeup I set everything with the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray. This will lock your makeup in place until you’re ready to take it off. I found a trial size at Walgreens for $6.00.

8.) Bronzer

This Butter Bronzer from Physicians Formula IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF. Not only does it smell like a summer vacation the formula is amazing. Physicians Formula is more of a pricey drugstore brand, but believe me you don’t want to mess with bad bronzers. You will look like a muddy hot mess. Drugstores and ULTA always have Buy One Get One ½ off Sales.

 9.) Blush

The Butter Blushes from Physicians Formula are as great as the bronzer. The colors are beautiful. Buy a blush and the bronzer when they are on sale.

10.) Highlight

Highlighting my face is probably my favorite step. It just brings life to your face and makes you shine from outer space. This Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighter in Precious Petals is gorgeous and only $4.99.

11.) Lip Products

I love putting on a beautiful lip color. Lip products are more of a reference selection. I’m into warm nudes and neutrals. My favorite brands are NYX, Milani, Essence, and Maybelline. Here are some samples:

I learned I basically have 30+ lip colors of the same dark nude color in my collection. 🙂

Well there you have it! Have fun painting your face on. 🙂 COMMENT BELOW with your favorite makeup products for a teacher’s budget.
